Employment Terms

General
Minimum Wage
- GNF 550,000 per month
Working Hours
- Maximum of 8 hours per day and 40 hours per week
- Employees are entitled to a one-hour break for lunch, which is usually taken between 12:00 and 1:00 pm.They are also entitled to a 15-minute break in the morning and afternoon.
- Typical working hours start at 8h00 and end by 17h00, Monday to Friday
Overtime
- The maximum number of overtime hours per day is 2 hours, and the maximum number of overtime hours per week is 10 hours. Overtime work is paid at a premium rate, which is typically 130% of the employee’s regular hourly rate.
- An employer can unilaterally require a worker to work 100 hours of overtime per year. Beyond this limit, a certificate to perform overtime work must be obtained from Labour Inspector.
- Night work is the work performed between 20h00 and 06h00. Night work is paid at a premium rate of 160% of the employee’s regular hourly rate.

Severance Pay

Paid Leave / Vacation Days

Sick Leave
- The maximum duration of sick leave is six months. However, the initial duration of sick leave is 13 weeks, but it may be extended up to 26 weeks if a worker had at least 300 days of employment in the last year.
Maternity Leave
